Below is an exercise that is built to teach the basics of defending for attackers. As noted in the “Defending Basics – 1” post, defenders and attackers may defend a bit differently. After coaching the basics of defending to the whole team, I like to teach attackers how to press. In my mind, pressing is defending in a way to cause the other team to make mistakes and turn the ball over. Proper pressing can help your team control the tempo of the game and helps you win the ball back in a timely manner.
